Riding in a golf cart for extended periods can be a fun and exciting time for cart owners and family members who go along with them.
However, some cart owners may find that their cart has less legroom than they want, which limits their ability to feel comfortable and relaxed.
Those riders with long legs or tall bodies may want to consider the three models mentioned below, as they provide the most legroom for their class.
We have chosen three as a way of highlighting the different golf cart manufacturers on the market and to ensure that you have the most options.
Which Golf Cart Has the Most Legroom?
We will also list one golf cart per manufacturer: the E-Z-GO Express L6, the Club Car Precedent Stretch PTV, and the Yamaha Drive2 PTV.
These carts are among the premier models in their class and also have a variety of other amenities that make them worth the purchase.
We will list as many of these specifications and amenities as we can to ensure that you find an option which makes sense for you.
Thankfully, it shouldn’t be too hard for you to narrow down your options based on these amenities, and since all three have ample legroom, your choice is streamlined even more.
If you want a golf cart that feels more comfortable for you and your family, these are the options to look at, though there are other carts you may want to consider as well for your buying needs.
Note: Golf carts with more seats don’t necessarily have more legroom because they often have to make up for the extra seating with a little less leg room.
However, there is a possibility that some carts on this list may have more seats than other models, depending on the design of the model and the different design methodologies of the cart manufacturer.
Take that factor into account when purchasing your cart, making sure to choose an option that is economical for your needs and reasonable for your potential rider possibilities.
1. E-Z-GO Express L6
The E-Z-GO Express L6 is one of the leading carts created by this manufacturer and is often considered one of their most popular options.
This cart is a 72-volt electric model which can hold up to six passengers (hence the “L6” name) and is designed to have a higher ground clearance and a strong amount of legroom.
Thankfully, estimating legroom here is fairly simple: the cart has an overall width of about 49 inches (125 centimeters) and a length of 144 inches (364 centers).
The legroom will consist of that full width, minus an inch or two for the sides of the cart, and about one-sixth or so of the full length of the cart or about 24 inches (60.96 centimeters).
Please note that this is a rough estimate on our part and should not be considered 100 percent accurate—probably more like 80–90 percent.
If you are interested in buying this cart, it also comes in a gasoline model if you are so inclined to purchase this type, and it is capable of up to 13.5 horsepower.
However, the 72-volt model probably remains the most popular option because it utilizes an EliTE lithium battery which requires no maintenance.
It also has a closed-loop EFI powertrain that helps it to run smoothly without running into any types of operational struggles.
Beyond this factor, it also includes a handful of amenities, such as cup holders, technological devices, dash storage methods, and more.
You can also pay extra for elements like Bluetooth speakers, premium golf cart tires, a fold-down windshield, a chrome steering wheel, and more.
If you do buy a gasoline model, you need to understand that your cart will have a tank of about six gallons or so.
This should give you more than enough fuel to play a handful of golf rounds or enjoy a few hours riding around your property or yard with your cart.
2. Club Car Precedent Stretch PTV
Club Car produces some of the most forward-thinking and innovative golf carts on the market today, and their Precedent Stretch PTV is no different.
The name “stretch” here is not a misnomer as this cart is fairly long and designed to handle a large number of people.
It includes four forward-facing seats which provide a maximum level of legroom for those who are struggling to feel comfortable.
On their website, they claim that it has “35 additional inches of legroom” for the most “front and rear legroom in its class.”
What that 35 inches is “additional” to is hard to say without checking into the specifications of the cart and its measurements.
For instance, this cart has an overall size of 144 by 47.25 by 69 inches (366 by 120 by 174 centimeters), which makes it fairly similar to other larger carts of comparable size.
However, the unique engineering of the cart helps out by cutting away some of the excess space between the seats and underneath them.
As a result, there is more legroom here than you may find in other Club Car carts of the same type and class, meaning you can relax more easily.
We couldn’t find any other Club Car that had a similar range of legroom and comfort, so we suggest this option if you love this manufacturer.
As for performance, this golf cart uses an electrical motor that has a maximum speed of 15 miles per hour, unless you upgrade to the Private Use Speed Option.
This model allows you to reach speeds of up to 19 miles per hour and is designed for country club, retirement, and gated communities.
The large Monsoon Top canopy has become standard on most Club Car options in recent years and is capable of handling three gallons of water per minute.
As a result, it should be easy for you to stay dry when you’re out in your golf cart, minimizing the unique demands this cart may place on you.
The SportDrive steering system is designed to make this cart easier to control, as some drivers may find that it is hard to physically turn their cart’s wheel.
However, this drive is smoother than other models, and combined with a self-compensating double helical rack and pinion design, it should be fairly easy to ride.
Gas options do not seem to be available (or if they were, we missed them), however, so this may be a bit of a down point for those who prefer the extra power of a gas golf cart.
3. Yamaha Drive2 PTV
The Drive2 PTV is designed as a personal transport vehicle with a gasoline engine which utilizes a variety of different amenities and features to stand out from other carts of its type.
Though a little more compact than a few of the other carts we’ve discussed here, this cart is quite roomy for a handful of riders.
Its overall size is a total of 93.6 by 47.3 by 70.2 inches (238 by 120 by 178 centimeters) overall size, which is a little wider but is quite a bit shorter than the other carts on this list.
However, the legroom remains very high, as this cart does not have two full seats but just one, allowing riders a large amount of room.
With a maximum speed of 15 miles per hour, a turning radius of 9.2 feet (2.8 meters), and a gas tank of about six gallons, this two-person cart has the best legroom among the less expensive models.
Those who just want a personal golf cart or one to take around a couple of people can’t do much better than this unique and effective option.
Don’t forget that you can customize this model as well, adding different elements like enhanced LED lights, better brakes, and even speaker systems.
