What Color Golf Bag Should I Get? (Explained)

Golf bags are offered in dozens of colors.

It is just one of the many considerations that golfers have to make when choosing a golf bag.

However, if you are not careful, you can end up with a golf bag that is not a great color.

If you pick a golf bag that is not the right color, you can expect to need a replacement sooner and to have much more cleaning to do.

If you are wondering what color golf bag to get, here are our recommendations.

What Color Golf Bag Should I Get?

The best golf bag color tends to be black or dark blue.

These colors are less likely to become stained when you play in less-than-ideal weather.

However, if black or blue is not the best option for your game, other choices could work.

Let’s look at how to choose the best golf bag color and what you should consider when picking the best color.

How To Choose The Best Golf Bag Color

Unfortunately, choosing the best golf bag color is not just about your personal preferences; there are also considerations to make about the weather, climate, and even golf bag storage.

Here are a few things to help you choose the best golf bag color for your needs.

1. Where You Play

When choosing your golf bag, try to think about what golf course you play most often.

Do you play a course that tends to get muddy?

Is there any shade coverage on the course?

How about sand and dust?

Is the course dry?

Thinking about where you play and then adding that to the qualifications of what you need in a golf bag can certainly help make sure your golf bag lasts for a long time.

The golf bag will fade considerably quicker when you play a course with a lot of sun and very little tree coverage.

When your golf bag fades, the color changes completely, and it doesn’t look nearly as good.

For golf courses that are muddy or sandy, it pays to have a darker color to help hide some of the dirt.

You can wash and clean up your golf bag but they won’t be as nice looking as they were when you first purchased them.

2. Where Your Clubs Are Stored

Where do you keep your golf clubs?

Some players leave their clubs at a golf course, while others put them in their car or garage.

If you have been in the bag room at a golf club, you probably know that these are areas where golf clubs can get quite dirty.

Most of the time, the golf bag storage has a large door that is kept open throughout the day to help staff grab the clubs they need.

Dirt can get into the bag room, which will often get your golf bag dirty.

In addition, there are times when your bag will be stored right next to other bags.

If that bag is not the cleanest, some of that could end up on your golf bag.

In your garage, you may have a nice clean storage rack to hold your golf clubs, or you may throw them in a corner.

Go with a darker color anytime you think that the storage area will cause the clubs to get dirty.

3. Fair Weather Golfer?

Do you play golf in any weather condition, or will you only play when it is nice out?

Some color golf bags will have waterproof fabric.

Other times, the bag will get water stains on it when you play in poor weather conditions.

Of course, you may get caught in a rain storm, which is when it helps to have a rain cover.

Sometimes water on your golf bag is unavoidable, but if you know you will play in any condition, go with a darker color that won’t show the rain stains on the golf bag.

There are dozens of golf bag colors out there for players to choose from.

We thought it would be helpful to go through some of the most popular golf bag colors to determine the positives and negatives of these options.

1. Black

Black tends to be the most popular golf bag color choice out there.

Black bags hold up well against stains and wear and tear.

In addition, black golf bags look nice with almost any headcover option.

You can always add in an accent color with a towel or by having your name put on the bag in an alternative color.

The only thing you must watch out for when you go with the black golf bag is that you don’t pick a cheaper bag with a fabric that will fade.

When the black fades, it can turn an almost pinkish-black color, and it’s not the best-looking.

2. Navy Blue

Navy blue is another great option if you want to stay away from black but are still looking to keep stains and dirt away.

The navy blue option at least sets your bag apart from all the other black golf bags on the market.

There are other blue colors, like a royal or even a lighter sky blue, but they tend to show stains and dirt a bit easier.

3. White

White golf bags look great.

If you want a sleek design that stands out from others, the white golf bag is a great choice.

However, it is worth mentioning that white golf bags are also the hardest to maintain.

If you don’t care about having to clean and maybe even replace your bag sometimes, the white is a smart choice.

4. Pink

Pink golf bags are really popular among women golfers.

Dark pink bags do a good job of keeping dirt away, but light pink can be difficult to maintain.

Pink golf bags look nice and stand out from others; just be aware of the shade of pink you choose.

5. Purple

Purple can be a good color and may be easier to maintain than pink.

Purple golf bags are slightly darker and hide dirt a bit better.

Purple golf bags also look great with white accents if you want a white bag but are afraid of how dirty the white could get.

6. Red & Orange

Red and orange golf bags are a good in-between option for players that don’t want a black bag but still want some color.

One of our favorite things about red and orange golf bags is that they stand out.

If you are a golfer that has a hard time locating your bag at a tournament or ends up putting the club in the wrong bag from time to time, red or orange could be a great choice.

7. Green

Green golf bags can be harder to find.

This is just not that popular of a color for golf bags.

One of the reasons may be how much green there is on the golf course.

With all the grass on the course, the green option doesn’t stand out the way most golfers want it to.

8. Gray

Gray golf bags are getting more popular.

There is a dark heathered gray color that more and more companies are offering.

Take a look at this if you need a break from the black but like to play golf in any condition.

9. Pattern

Pattern golf bags are really popular among women players.

A pattern golf bag is more of a style statement than anything else.

A patterned golf bag is a good choice if you are interested in standing out on the course and showing your personality.

Do White Golf Bags Get Dirty Easy?

White golf bags and yellow golf bags get very dirty.

However, the white bag is a great choice if you play in nice weather and have a clean and dry place to store your clubs.

Remember when you purchase a white golf bag that you may not get more than a few years out of it.

At some point, the golf bag will turn a slightly different color and look older and faded.

What Is The Most Versatile Bag Color?

The most versatile bag color is either gray or black.

Regardless of the headcovers on your bag or the towel you love, black and gray colors look great.

In addition, both men and women can play with black or gray golf bags.

Conclusion

Hopefully, you now know which golf bag colors are the best for your game.

Golf bags are not a very cheap purchase.

It makes sense to choose a color that will not get very dirty.

In addition, some golf bags can fade over time.

Try to choose a high-quality fabric that remains in great shape year after year.

We always aim to get about five years out of our golf bag, which is certainly doable if you are smart about the bag you choose.
