Why Do Golfers Wear White Belts? (Reasons Explained)

Most of the time, people wear black and or brown belts.

However, in the golf world, you may see quite a few white belts.

There are a few reasons behind the white belt, and you may even want to try wearing one yourself the next time you head out to play.

Why Do Golfers Wear White Belts?

Golfers wear white belts because they are very often wearing white shoes.

Since it can look good to match shoes to a belt, this is why golfers get away with wearing the white belt.

White belts are also sometimes worn because they have a modern look to them, and they can pull together the color in the golfer’s shirts with their pants.

Many of the younger players on the PGA Tour really like the white belts.

Since the white belt stands out pretty well, you can also put a relatively large and visible logo on a white belt.

Companies like Puma will put their signature logo as a metal piece on the white belt buckle.

Some golfers wear white belts just because they like them!

What Are the Downsides to Wearing a White Belt?

As great as a white belt can look, there are still a few negatives about the white belt.

For starters, the white belt tends to get dirty quite quickly.

When you play golf, a lot of times, your hands will have dirt on them, or your grips will leave a little black mark on your hands as well.

Since your hand is likely going into or out of your pocket, you may even hit your belt with your grip from time to time, that belt may not stay white for long.

The white belt can also be hard to clean if you don’t have a great quality belt.

If it is a leather belt, you can polish it or repair the layer if there were some cracks or a break in the leather.

Sometimes there is a possibility that the white belt can bring attention to your mid-section.

If you are trying to fly under the radar and not attract too much attention to yourself, the white belt may not be the best choice for you.

Are White Pants Good for Playing Golf?

Speaking of white belts, we might as well take a look at the white pants.

White pants can be very popular in golf, and we must admit that they can look great.

In contrast to all of the green on the golf course, the white stands out and looks very clean and professional.

White pants are great for golf as long as you stay out of the long grass and any kind of trouble.

If your ball ends up on the bank of a water hazard, chances are your white pants are going to get pretty dirty.

Also, if you are walking in tall rough most of the day, the pants will tend to get wet, and they could stain.

Generally speaking, if the weather is dry and you can keep the ball mostly in the fairway, the white pants are a very clean look for the golf course.

White pants will also stay a bit cooler in the summer than the black pants.

If you don’t want to wear shorts to play in the summer months, the white pants can be considered a great option.

Why Do Golfers Wear White Hats?

To go along with the white belt and the white shoes, the golfer sometimes also wears a white hat.

Matching the shoes, belt, and hat are common as long as the shorts/pants and the shirt can coordinate as well.

White hats are great because they will stay nice and cool on your head.

The only downside to the white hats is that, if you sweat a lot, you will probably notice some stains starting to show up on your hat.

The white hats don’t tend to stay clean for all that long, and you may need to wash them a bit more often than other hats.

If you have been shopping recently for golf gear, you may notice that golf shoes are not all white anymore.

White golf shoes were the classic color for many years, but they have since started to fade away.

Many golfers still love the traditional white shoe, but there are a few problems with it.

For starters, the white shoes tend to get dirty rather quickly.

You can clean them, but they will never again look quite as shiny as the day you walked out of the store.

Golf shoes now are often brown and black rather than white because they will show less dirty.

You may also notice that golf shoes traditionally used to be one solid color or have a contrasting saddle color.

The modern golf shoes have much more style, design, and even patterns to them.

Most are made to look and perform a bit more like an athletic shoe, and this is an indicator of the way the game is heading.
